Pharos Announces Pilot RIA - web based intranet control

Pilot Ria provides full reactive control of broadcast routing equipment from any web browser via local or secure-coupled intranet

Pharos Communications announces a major new addition to its Pilot family of broadcast and production facility control systems. Pilot Ria provides full reactive control of broadcast routing equipment from any web browser via local or secure-coupled intranet. It can be deployed quickly and easily throughout a single-site or multi-site facility and, when necessary, enables engineering staff to reconfigure a system from home or while travelling.

Pharos Sales & Marketing Director Roger Heath explains: "Ria is easy to understand from a user's perspective because web browsing is universally accepted. It brings an unparalleled degree of operational flexibility at a time when broadcasters are looking for simple workflow enhancements that are easy to rollout onto enterprise desktops. We have also focused on the deployment and maintenance of Pilot Ria. The advantages and cost of ownership of enterprise solutions are likely to be key in the era of broadcast and IT convergence. Pharos Pilot itself has become an industry standard for broadcast control, superseding the clutter and expense of hard-wired panels and resource-hungry desktop applications."

Questioned on the Web's suitability as a control surface, Pharos Technical Director Spencer Rodd explains: "Our developers have tackled the issues of real-time control and live status and this has generated a lot of interest from broadcast engineers as well as engineers in other control-based industries."
