Uncle, a new post-production facility being built adjacent to the BBC Television Centre in London's White City, has chosen the Pharos Pilot RT system to provide efficient control of its entire routing system.
Part of The Farm Group, London's leading independent post-production enterprise, Uncle is located on two floors of Network House, Arial Way. In-house facilities will include two online edit suites, ten offline suites and two audio dubbing suites. Uncle's Pharos Pilot RT will control six levels of Pro-Bel routing.
Pharos Pilot RT enables non-engineering staff to operate and monitor an entire broadcast routing system. Switching is truly reactive. Based on standard low-cost computer platforms running Windows or Linux, the system allows network infrastructure to be supervised and routed using intuitive graphic displays. The need for for device-specific hard-wired control panels is greatly reduced. All switching and control can be performed via touchscreen or standard computer mouse and keyboard. Dedicated editing software allows facility managers to create their own control panels quickly and easily.
Systems installation at Uncle will be commenced by ATG Broadcast at the end of August for scheduled completion early October.
Headquartered in Soho, The Farm Group (www.farmpost.co.uk) currently comprises The Farm, The Shed, Home and Squash. The group's facilities include HD post-production for feature films and television, digital post-production for television, commercials and music promos and DVD encoding.
