Pharos Pilot MCR arrives in Hollywood

One of the USAs leading digital intermediate facilities has chosen a Pharos Pilot MCR control

One of the USAs leading digital intermediate facilities has chosen a Pharos Pilot MCR control system for installation at its Burbank California facility. Replacing an existing routing controller, Pilot MCR allows the facilitys routers plus a wide range of auxiliary production equipment to be supervised and operated from any of ten workstations.
The contract called for a system that was reliable, operationally flexible and easy to expand. Pilot MCR delivers on all three counts. Its touchscreen control system is highly intuitive, providing all the information an operator needs to perform specific device-control tasks. Deeper-level device parameters can be accessed, when required, far more easily than is possible with traditional hardware panels. A big advantage over the previous installation is that Pilot MCR receives real-time tallies confirming that each requested device-control action has actually been performed.

Pharos provided drivers for all the devices that needed to be controlled and worked closely with the client's engineering staff interfacing Pilot MCR to the facility's entire routing infrastructure. The Pilot MCR GUI is easily customised and accommodates the way people are already working rather than requiring staff to change their day-to-day routines.

Pharos Pilot MCR allows the efficient control of video and audio devices in production facilities and broadcast centres. It gives system designers the freedom to group multiple equipment into a single virtual device controllable from one or more networked desktop workstations. The resultant system simplification enables users to focus on service provision.

Pharos Pilot MCR forms the operational heart of some of the world's most advanced broadcast centres. It is supported by a large library of device interfaces allowing control of third-party equipment via IP and RS-422. Pilot Designer editing software enables facility managers to create their own control panels quickly and easily.
