Pharos Playtime Channel Promotions

Viewers are increasingly responding to channel specific and cross-channel promotions but managing graphics workflow can be time-consuming. A slow graphics workflow may limit your opportunity to build channels, retain viewers and expand cost effectively. This is even more difficult when the schedule is changing or with multiple languages.

Why not generate channel promotions automatically?

  • Optimise your investment in 3rd party graphics technology
  • Consistent, hands-off channel promotion
  • Significantly simplifies "secondary events"

Further expanding the capabilities of the Mediator content management platform, Pharos has developed a new Event Template driven channel identity and promotions feature to enhance its integrated Playtime playout option.

Integrated graphics workflow with Playtime Event Templates

Maintaining channel identity and promotional style using more on-screen graphics significantly increases operational complexity in daily operations. Conventional playout automation systems cannot manage this added content management workload when designing, reviewing, approving and distributing multiple on-screen promotional material and graphics. The Mediator Playtime automation plug-in uses Event Templates to manage complex secondary events such as "coming up next" graphics, credit squeezes, and channel promotions as a single business process. Playtime Event Templates significantly reduce the risk of on-screen errors when scaling up for multi-channel and multi-language expansion, streamlining the delivery of complex graphics. Cross-channel promotions can also be managed using the same processes.

Parallel linear and new media distribution

Playtime Event Templates also extend workflow to produce and deliver promotions cost-effectively for new media distribution platforms such as VOD, IPTV and mobile, alongside traditional linear playout.

Integrated with third party "channel-in-a-box" graphics servers

Playtime Event Templates are compatible with discrete server and graphics air-chains and, the latest channel-in-a-box graphics servers from leading third-party manufacturers. This also reduces playout system complexity and significantly simplifies operations when switching to redundant back-up devices.

At IBC 2008 Mediator and Playtime Event Templates this will be on show with servers from Omneon, Miranda and First Person Media.

Integrated with third party channel management systems

The Mediator content management platform with the Playtime option can also be directly integrated with third- party channel management, traffic and scheduling systems.
Pharos have recently integrated Mediator with MediaGenix What's On at MTV Networks Northern Europe.
