The X/Y architecture has formed the foundation of Pharos' broadcast solutions for over 12 years. The proven track record provides today's customers with the most dependable broadcast systems possible.
The Pharos X/Y System ensures maximum reliability and uptime and facilitates easy upgrades and testing.
All drivers, interfaces and control API's can be fully duplicated, resulting in a fully redundant device control layer. If a device has a single control port the driver accesses both X and Y systems and remains fully functional and without interruption during and after a changeover.
The Pharos X/Y system fully integrates with Oracle Dataguard database mirroring technology. By aligning each Pharos system side to one of the available Oracle 10g databases, the Dual System ensures that each system side remains synchronised.
The Server Monitor's status and password-protected manual changeover features can be accessed form the Information Centre, a centralised web based administration tool for system administrators.
The Server Monitor analyses various aspects of the system for responsiveness and if problems are detected in areas such as database connectivity, responsiveness, message centre load and network responsiveness, the Server Monitor will initiate an automatic changeover. This keeps the stability and responsiveness of the system as high as possible.
Always available from anywhere in the the Pharos Information Centre, the Server Monitor shows the X and Y system states and allows manual changeovers for maintenance.
By installing software on the standby side, Pharos Dual System makes upgrading and testing significantly easier. By updating and testing on the standby side, the system can switch over and if problems arise or further configuration is required, the system can be switched back while changes are made.
The Pharos Information Centre is a centralised web based administration tool for that allows maintenance and Pharos Support Services to remotely administer Pharos systems. It is from here that the systems Server Monitor can be accessed and the X/Y alignment of the applications and drivers can be viewed and changed.
To users, the changeover process is completely transparent. System administrators can receive notification of a changeover when it occurs.
All Pharos systems come with the core Pharos Exception alarms, allowing easy viewing of all alarms from the Alarm Manager. For more complex grouping, filtering and transforming of alarms, Pharos offers their Exception alarm and monitoring product.
For emergency access when the Information Centre is unavailable, the Server Monitor's own webpage can be used to view status and trigger manual changeovers. This is accessed via a TCP/IP port directly on the Server Monitor computer.
